Ester Nin Llort started her career in 2004 at Almanseñas in the La Mancha appellation of Almansa. She is in charge of the viticulture and oenology for this estate where three wines are made from Garnacha, Tintorera and Monastrell. She does this in collaboration with Pep Aguilar and Patri Morillo, both oenologists from the Priorat region. Ester is also the winemaker and owner of her own Priorat winery where she makes the fabulous Triumvirat that we had in the late winter and early spring of this year. Watch for more of her wines to find their way onto the shelves in the coming weeks and months. She is a star in the making!
Almansenas’ 2007 La Huella de Adaras is a blend of 60% Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet), 30% Monastrell, and 10% Syrah aged for 12 months in stainless steel.
Inky ruby. Powerful aromas of black raspberry, cherry preserves and licorice. Weighty, palate-coating dark berry flavors are complemented by smoky minerals, gaining a floral character with air. The chewy finish repeats the licorice note and leaves a note of cracked pepper behind. Pretty serious in personality for this price point, and in need of rich food.
